Dan Wins With His Big Idea

Earlier this month, BKC Wales Ambassador Dan Huxtable was presented with the Big Ideas Wales Best Enterprise Award in Cardiff for his success with Fightwear Store UK. The award is one of many handed out at the Big Ideas Celebrated event, which seeks out and rewards Entrepreneurial talent amongst 16 to 25 year olds in Wales and is itself a part of the Welsh Government’s Youth Entrepreneurship Services (YES).

His company, set up in 2016, provides bespoke and varied designs for gloves, footpads, hoodies and t-shirts, and is already sponsoring two UK-based Kickboxers. We asked Dan how it felt to receive the award:
“It was great to be nominated for such a big event in the business world and it felt amazing winning the award, especially because I was up against some really hard competition like Virtual Reality businesses and car companies. It was like all my hard work had paid off winning with such a specialised, niche business.”

Fightwear Store also offers a bespoke design service where club owners can have their own designs made onto quality Martial Arts equipment, or consult with Dan directly to design truly unique kit.

“As a Martial Artist myself, I enjoy working with clients from all disciplines and have an understanding of what they are looking for.”

Dan also came runner up in two other categories at the event, having already won several other business awards including the Swansea Seed Fund, which gave him a cash and confidence boost at the start of his journey into the world of business.

“As a Graphic Designer and Martial Artist, I felt that a fresh and innovative approach was much needed in the market, so I set out to design sparring equipment and clothing with my own unique brand and style. Our inspirational designs on gloves for both points fighting and continuous are complemented by matching footwear. Our Points Fighter hoodies, t-shirts and suits are made to order and you can even get a matching SnapBack!“

Fightwear Store designs have been worn by top Martial Artists both in the UK and overseas, with enquiries coming from as far afield as America.

We are delighted with Dan’s achievements to date, pushing Kickboxing further into the mainstream and using the sport as a platform for success.

You can contact Fightwear Store via their website, www.fightwearstore.co.uk and keep a look out for their equipment stalls at tournaments throughout the UK.
