We Want To Know:

1969154_591585087592121_270724010_nHow long have you been in Kickboxing?
8 years! Since I was the age of 9.

What is it you love about the sport?
The main thing I love about the sport is the team spirit and support shared between my people at club on and off the mats. We are like one big family! I also love travelling to various places across the globe to compete and the competitive nature that comes with it. Also, I LOVE helping to teach the younger generation of the club and seeing them improve as fighters.

What are your proudest moments within the sport?
My proudest moments are definitely achieving my 1st and 2nd degree black belts, along with my 2 ICO World titles as those were my goals since the age of 9 – when I started the sport!

What are you hoping to achieve as a BKC Ambassador?
I hope, along with other BKC Ambassadors, to raise the profile of kickboxing greatly in order to get more people active and fit, as I’m sure there are lots of people who will benefit from the sport (eg Self defence, enjoyment, teamwork etc). Also, I would like to help kickboxing get the recognition and opportunities it deserves and hopefully get it recognised as a Commonwealth/Olympic sport!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank for your success so far?
Definitely my coach Robert Taylor; not only is he an outstanding coach but an outstanding role model! He pushes you to your limits in order for you to achieve success! My dad has also been a huge influence as he was the person who first got me into the sport and has continued to encourage and help me train throughout the 8 years I’ve trained. My fellow team-mates always help to motivate each other too!

What does the future hold for you?
I will continue to train hard in order to achieve other goals I have in mind! I would like to win a senior world title along with getting a European title under my belt – I hope to improve as a fighter! I would also like to improve as a coach to keep helping the younger fighters and teach then the skills needed to be successful in this sport.

What does the future hold for the sport, in your opinion?
I think the future holds great things for kickboxing! With the Ambassador programmes, recognition from Sport Wales/England etc and the increasing participation in the sport, I think this will raise the profile and get kickboxing up there with the Olympic sports! I think we as UK kickboxers have the ability to do this.

Anything else you would like to add?
It’s a great privilege to be selected as a BKC Ambassador for Wales and together I’m sure we will raise the profile of kickboxing and help it gain the recognition it deserves!
