Bar Set In New World Record!

On 27th May 2017 a new World Record was set for the number of consecutive Light Contact rounds completed by one person in a day – 135. At three minutes each, that’s nearly seven hours of sparring! Lee Ashman successfully completed this official Guinness World Record attempt to help raise funds for a 7 year old local boy named Jacob who suffers from cerebral palsy and who’s mother trains at Lee’s club.

Although he fell short of the 150 round target he set for himself, he sailed past the 120 Round target set by Guinness, having previously completed a 100 Round charity fundraiser in aid of the medical staff and support workers of Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (Oxford) and Children’s Chronic Arthritis Association (CCAA), who had helped with the recovery of his son after being diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (find out more about this event here).

On top of the World Record, the event also raised around £1,500 for the Jacob’s Footsteps charity and you can still show your support by donating to the charity, here:

We are of course delighted for Lee, who has shown incredible community spirit and selflessness in yet another test of endurance. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
